Have you struggled with overwhelm? You are not alone. In this workshop we will explore the practices of yoga and mindfulness that are here to support us. We will look at the practices of yoga, including the 8 limbs of yoga, as well as current neuroscience findings of how these practices can help us regulate our own nervous systems and find more ease in our daily lives.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to our internal and external environments with curiosity and kindness.

Yoga comes from the word “yoke” or “to unite”, it is an integrative, experiential practice of mindfulness that can help cultivate more honest and kind relationship with our own minds, bodies and the world around us. The practices of yoga have long been know to help calm the fluctuations of our mind and can provide practical tools for helping greet with world with more calm and less overwhelm.

The 8 limbs of yoga include Yamas, Niyamas, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. In western cultures, people are often only familiar with the physical postures (Asana) in yoga, but the 8 limbs help to create full mind and body practice that is designed to help us find ease and reduce suffering in our minds and bodies.

Yes! All levels are welcome in this workshop.

This class with be a mixture of some teaching, group discussion and experiential and movement practices. Please wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in and a writing utensil and journal if you want to take notes for yourself.
